Why have you changed to Embody Joy Collective?

  • We had no formal legal standing as Houston Nia Collective (HNC). We took the decision to form a limited liability company (LLC) under the new name of Embody Joy Collective. This makes us a formal entity with the opportunity to evolve and grow. Many individual and group fitness professionals use a similar structure.

  • Our new legal entity allows us to separate ourselves and our finances as individuals from our finances as a group.

Why have you set up a new payment structure, using PunchPass?

  • PunchPass allows you to manage your own account if you choose to set one up. You will be able to:

    • check how many classes you have left on your pass

    • buy a new pass in advance of coming to class

    • store your credit card information securely, if you so choose

    • register for class in advance, speeding up the check-in process (note that your pass is only used when you attend; pre-registering does NOT automatically deduct from your pass)

    • provide additional information securely, such as your birthday.

  • Under our HNC system, we and our class assistants individually took credit card payments using Square. This opened us all up to potential scrutiny by the IRS.

  • PunchPass works seamlessly with a “behind the scenes” system called Stripe to send revenue directly to our Embody Joy Collective business bank account, removing the involvement of individuals.

What do I need to do to create my personal login to PunchPass? 

  • We have input all current passholders’ names and email addresses into PunchPass - effectively, we have already created accounts for current passholders. And we have allocated the remaining classes on your old HNC pass to your new account in PunchPass.

  • You will receive an email from PunchPass inviting you to set up  login details (username and password) and to complete your profile. 

    • Please complete as much as you are comfortable sharing with us. PunchPass does NOT share your data with anyone else. And neither do we.

    • We would love to celebrate our students’ birthdays. Please complete that section (only if you are comfortable doing so).

    • You will have the ability to store your credit card details if you would like to save time in future purchases. PunchPass does not store these details itself, but instead uses a secure third-party system called Link. If you have saved your details on a “Link-enabled” website before, your card details may be automatically populated by Link.

Why have you removed the 12-class pass and moved to 10-class passes?

  • A 10-class pass allows for easier direct cost comparison to 5-class passes for you.

  • For us, it makes our revenue less “lumpy” as passes are purchased on a more regular cadence.

Why have prices increased?

  • We had kept our prices unchanged after re-starting in-person classes in 2021. Since then, studio rent has increased more than 55%. 

  • We have incurred significant costs in setting up the LLC, creating a new website and domain name and setting up a PunchPass account. We have minimized class pass price increases as much as we can.

Will my PunchPass pass allow me to take class at other locations where the Embody Joy Collective teaches?

  • Yes! You can use your PunchPass account for Yvonne’s Monday class at Frame Dance Productions, 2426 Bartlett Street.

  • If we add classes in other locations, we will include them in PunchPass where we can.
