Meet the EJC Teachers

Yvonne

… a Nia Black Belt, has practiced the Nia Technique since 1997. She became a Nia teacher in 2000. Through Nia, participants learn what it means to experience fitness through pleasure, sensation and mindfulness. Yvonne blends athleticism and grace to guide participants toward a present-centered state of appreciation for mind, body, spirit and emotion. Her multi-dimensional movement vocabulary springs from a love of dance, yoga and martial arts. Yvonne enjoys including Nia principles in her life and work as founder of Vibrantly Living You.

Sarah

… encountered Nia in college, where she thought it was something unique to Austin. Returning to Houston she was dissatisfied with typical exercise regimens. On a whim she found Studio NiaMoves and has been dancing with the community ever since! Sarah completed her White Belt in 2017 and Green Belt in 2022. As a teacher she provides an energetic opportunity to move and condition the body using Nia’s 9 movement forms.

Julie

... was introduced to Nia by fellow Collective member Yvonne and began practicing regularly around the mid-2000s. She fell in love with the practice and community, feeling like she’d been for “a workout, a massage, therapy and church” after every class. She finally took her White Belt training in January 2020 and followed that up with Green and Blue belts in 2021, and Brown in 2024. Julie brings fun, infectious enthusiasm and energy to her Nia experience.
